Braces

Braces are fixed structures for correcting the position of teeth and aligning the dentition. They are fixed to the surface of the teeth using special materials.

Each bracket has its own program for the direction of tooth movement. An arc with a “shape memory” is installed in the bracket grooves – a force that returns this arc to its original position, no matter how it is deformed. It is this force that gradually aligns individual teeth or, in general, the jaws.

There are braces:

  • metal,
  • ceramic,
  • sapphire.

How does the system work?

Teeth that appear to be stationary are actually capable of moving under the influence of forces applied to them. Heavy chewing loads are short-lived and cannot move teeth. However, if light but long-term (several months) pressure is applied to the wall of the alveolus (tooth socket), it will begin to resorb and the tooth will be able to move. On the opposite side of the socket – where the connective tissue fibers have been stretched – a new bone formation will appear, which holds the tooth and does not allow it to return to its previous position. It is this property of bone tissue that lies in the principle of operation of the bracket system, with the help of which the tooth can be sunk into or pulled out of the bone, tilted in the right direction or rotated around its axis.

The duration of medical treatment depends on many factors, such as the patient’s age and individual characteristics. In some cases, wearing orthodontic structures can last up to three years. However, after treatment, the dental arch will be perfectly straight and the bite will be correct. You will be able to smile without complexes!

This is guaranteed to you by the dentists of DD clinic – candidates of medical sciences, experienced specialists who have not only a huge amount of knowledge, but also extensive clinical experience and authority in scientific circles.

How are braces installed?

Braces are installed in DD clinic by orthodontists, candidates of medical sciences. The orthodontist fixes the system with a special glue-bond in one session, and then regularly carries out corrections (the planned angle of movement of each tooth) with a phased replacement of the arches, as well as hygiene procedures and others.

The arch gently but constantly presses on the teeth, so that the patient does not feel discomfort, let alone pain, when moving the teeth. The patient’s diction remains unchanged. There are no inconveniences during daily hygiene either.

Braces align the dentition in a relatively short period of time, up to a year and a half in case of a complicated case.

Do I need to get used to braces?

Yes, adaptation is necessary, and it can be accompanied by unpleasant sensations. Everyone has an individual tolerance to addiction, but it occurs soon enough, and the patient forgets that he or she is wearing braces. The period of adaptation (from several days to a month) depends on the type of construction and individual characteristics of the patient.
